JUNE 28, 2008

Perfect June day: Hanging out with Mayor Daley on a boat at the 2008 Chicago Riverwalk opening reception then
hearing Stevie Wonder perform for three hours at an outdoor, free concert at Taste of Chicago...
MAY 2008 I've had an obsession with chickens and roosters for as long as I can remember. If the city of Chicago were a bird, surely it would be a rooster... My very first public art piece is on display on the Chicago Riverwalk between State Street and Dearborn, on the lower level. The "Chicago Rooster" is one of 40 portraits featured in an exhibition titled "Chicago Looks." The portraits line a wall that separates the riverwalk from Lower Wacker Drive. A little cafe has been installed down there, so you can enjoy some lunch while you take a look.... This project was loads of fun and a great challenge... For those of you who have not experienced summertime in Chicago, allow me to elaborate... (I don't mean to sound like a tourbook, but really, summer is quite a phenomenon here after suffering though a seemingly never-ending, frigid, gray winter...Picture a bunch of bears awaking from hibernation, quirky, starving, yet very well-rested....) Thanks to Mayor Daley's efforts to beautify the city, Chicago explodes with color and life in the summer with a fantastic array of flowers on every corner, live, free music performances and festivals in neighborhoods, parks and beaches teeming with humanity. In short, great people-watching... This display will be up through October, perhaps longer... |

5-23-08 I was the featured artist on the web site: www.artistaday.com Many thanks to all of the kind people who commented on the work...

GO OBAMA!

The American Illustration 26 party in New York was much fun. It was great to meet illustrators whose work I have
admired over the years. New York City is fabulous.
I was selected for American Illustration 26. I don't think that I've ever been taken seriously as an illustrator, but
I enjoy illustration and would be more than happy to illustrate stuff. So, take a chance-- be a pioneer! Give me a call. Really.
