"Cubicle Creatures," mixed media, 18" X 12"

In need of a regular income and health benefits, I took a day job 5 years ago. Corporate cubicle world works well for some people-- for me it is purgatory-- and I'm starting to make art about it, which is kind of worrisome. I wish that I wanted to draw flowers or unicorns, but alas... this piece is called, "Cubicle Creatures," and is part of a series of work devoted to examining the oddity that is the corporate world (from my point of view).

Though most corporate office workers enjoy company-subsidized health benefits, the office lifestyle seems to be hazardous to the health. From the "petri dish" biohazard rotten air quality, to the uncomfortable chairs and desks that employees sit at for 7 - 9 hours a day, cubicle world is a beehive of disease and disfigurement. In particular, I've observed a profound level of body/mind deformation amongst office folks-- from poor posture to obesity to mental illness.

I overheard this conversation between two staplers on my desk...
